Allison (Allie) Bechtel, DO, FAAP is a Hematology/Oncology physician at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care in Jacksonville, Florida. She is the director of the Jacksonville Oncology Survivorship Program, which manages over 400 patients who are 2 years (or more) off-treatment. Allie’s goal is to address all aspects of her patients’ care: including physical, mental and social effects of their previous oncology treatment. She spends the remainder of her clinical time caring for patients with benign hematology, as well as treating oncology patients, the majority of whom have leukemia and lymphoma. Allie also has a passion for medical education and directs the hematology/oncology medical rotations for the University of Florida Jacksonville Pediatric Residency program. More recently, Allie has started to further her education in Quality Improvement and is working on a curriculum to better equip trainees and the faculty to initiate process improvement.
Allie completed her post-graduate medical education in Jacksonville, Florida through the University of Florida Jacksonville Residency and Fellowship program. Here, she served the pediatric population across Jacksonville at: UF Health Jacksonville, Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Nemours Children’s Specialty Care clinic. She completed her medical school at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Honors, in her hometown of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, at Queen’s University.
